David Johnson

David Johnson is a historian of Africa who taught at the University of Calabar, Georgetown University, and City University of New York before re-settling in Trinidad & Tobago. His research interests have focused on interrelationships in the decolonization of Africa and the Caribbean as well as the modern history of Zimbabwe. Among his most treasured accomplishments is acting in a production of The Trial of Dedan Kimathi, a play authored by Mĩcere Gĩthae Mũgo and Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o, and staged at the University of Sussex as part of an international campaign for the release of Ngũgĩ and other political prisoners in Kenya.
